DHANGADHI: Chief Minister of Sudurpashchim Province, Kamal Bahadur Shah, has secured vote of confidence.
A total of 41 members of Sudurpashchim Province voted for Chief Minister Shah on Sunday which is a two-thirds majority in the 53-member province assembly. Eleven members voted against him.
He was appointed Chief Minister as the parliamentary party leader of the largest party in the province assembly as per Article 168 (3) of the Constitution of Nepal, 2015, after UML’s Rajendra Singh Rawal was denied a vote of confidence by Nagarik Unmukti Party.
The Nepali Congress (NC) leader got the support of 19 members of Nepali Congress, 10 of CPN (Maoist Center), seven of Nagarik Unmukti, four of CPN (Unified Socialist) and one independent member.
