DHANGADHI: Sudurpashchim Province Assembly is holding an election for Speaker on January 16.
An all-party meeting held at the Sudurpashchim Province Assembly Secretariat chaired by senior-most member Man Bahadur Rawal took a decision to this extent.
According to Yubaraj Jaishi, information officer of the secretariat, the first meeting of the province assembly scheduled for Monday will publish the election schedule.
“Voting will be held if there is more than one candidate. The candidate getting the highest number of votes will be elected,” added Jaishi.
The meeting also decided to form a five-member presidium under the leadership of Rawal.
Leaders of all the political parties represented in the province assembly are scheduled to address the first meeting of the assembly on Monday. Since Nepali Congress has not elected its parliamentary party leader yet, its assembly member Bahadur Singh Thapa will address the assembly on behalf of the party.
