Submissions for Madan Puraskar now open

KATHMANDU: The Madan Puraskar Guthi has opened submissions for the Madan Puraskar – one of the most prestigious literary awards in the country.

According to a notice published on Thursday, books published between April 15, 2024, and April 14, 2025, are eligible for the award.

A jury formed by the Guthi will shortlist the 10 best books from the submissions, and one of these will receive the award.

Established in 1955, the Guthi first awarded the Madan Puraskar in 1956 to Hamro Lok Sanskriti by Satya Mohan Joshi, General Bhimsen Thapa Ra Tatkalin Nepal by Chittaranjan Nepali, and Adhikbibhav Sthirbidyut Utpadak by Balaram Joshi.

The award carries a cash prize of Rs 400,000.
