KATHMANDU: Navaraj Subedi (86), who had left the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) to join a pro-monarchy movement, has now approached the Election Commission (EC) demanding reinstatement to the party’s disciplinary committee.
Subedi visited the EC on Sunday, claiming that he had been treated unfairly by the party.
The octogenarian Panchayat-era leader had stated in late March that he was quitting the party. “From today onwards, I will no longer remain a general member of RPP; I am going to bring back the monarchy,” Subedi had said.
Subedi led the pro-monarchy campaign by serving as the coordinator of the United People’s Movement Committee. However, the movement faltered midway. Now, Subedi is seeking reinstatement to the very position he relinquished. Now Subedi is insisting that he should be restored to his role as the chief and member of the RPP’s disciplinary committee.
Not just that, he has also filed a complaint at the Election Commission against RPP Chairperson Rajendra Lingden, accusing him of unilaterally terminating his party membership.
