KATHMANDU: Former Australian cricketer Stuart Law has been appointed as the new Head Coach of the Nepali men’s national cricket team.

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) made the announcement through a social media post on Friday.

Law, who has signed a two-year contract, replaces Monty Desai of India.

CAAN had received applications from 70 coaches for the position. The applicants were then shortlisted to 10 and Law was chosen from amongst them.

During his playing days, Law was part of Australia’s 1996 World Cup runner-up squad. He has played 54 ODIs and one Test match for Australia. His coaching credentials include stints with several international teams, having previously guided Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, West Indies, Afghanistan, Bangladesh’s U-19 side, and most recently the United States national team. However, he stayed with the US national team for only six months.
