KATHMANDU: CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal has accused the state of failing to provide adequate security to his party office, leading to an incident of arson and vandalism on March 28.
Speaking at the inauguration of the general assembly of the Bagmati Province Committee of the Nepal Indigenous Nationalities Federation (Socialist) in Kathmandu on Sunday, Nepal claimed that while the party offices of the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML were well-guarded with sufficient security personnel, his party’s office was neglected by the state. He attributed the attack, which involved arson and destruction, to this lack of protection.
“Computers, mobile phones and even fans were stolen from the office that day,” Nepal said, adding that all those involved in the incident must take responsibility and urged the government to punish the culprits. He also demanded fair compensation for the damages in the party office.
Nepal also said that attempts to restore the monarchy by relying on anarchic individuals would not succeed.
