KATHMANDU: Social Security Fund (SSF) has mobilized Rs 29 billion in its contribution-based social security scheme from nearly 400,000 contributors.
According to SSF, 17,618 employees and 390,288 contributors have signed up for the scheme till January.
Out of seven provinces, Bagmati tops the list with 299,835 contributors, followed by Province 1 (38,849), Madhesh (21,056), Gandaki (14,893), Lumbini (13,937), Sudurpashchim (1,503) and Karnali (1,185).
The SSF has been running different schemes like medical treatment, health and maternity protection scheme, accident and disability protection scheme, dependent family protection scheme, and old age protection scheme for its contributors.
The SSF has settled claims worth Rs 3.31 billion so far. Altogether 60,316 contributors have benefited from the scheme. The SSF has settled claims worth Rs 373.18 million in medical treatment, and health and maternity protection scheme, Rs 442.111 million of accident and disability protection scheme, Rs 858.35 million in dependent family protection scheme, and Rs 279.44 million in old age protection scheme.
Likewise, SSF provides up to Rs 1 million to the contributors for the treatment of 10 chronic diseases.
