KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Youth and Sports has warned that it would take appropriate action as per existing laws if any officials of Nepal Scout are found to have political affiliations.
Issuing a statement on Monday, Minister for Youth and Sports, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, who is also the chief of Nepal Scout, requested Nepal Scout officials to make a self-declaration that they are not affiliated with any political parties.
“The decision was taken after scouts complained that Nepal Scout officials have political affilitations and requested that appropriate action be taken against them,” Minister Shrestha added in the statement.
Section 18 (1) (b) and (c) of the Nepal Scout Act, 1993, bars members of the Nepal Scout from obtaining membership of any political party or involving in any political activities.
