Special convention inevitable if general convention is not held on Jan 10: Sharma Bishwa Prakash Sharma

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma has said that the failure to hold the 15th general convention on January 10, as decided on Monday, would necessitate a special convention.

Speaking to the media after the Central Working Committee meeting at the party’s central office in Sanepa on Monday, Sharma said any attempt to delay the regular convention would lead to a special convention.

He also advised party leaders to remember that the signatures of general convention representatives submitted earlier, demanding a special convention, are still safely kept at the central office.

Sharma added that since party President Sher Bahadur Deuba has already stated he would step down after the general convention, he should not be pushed into facing a special convention.

Sharma called on the youth to be ready to take leadership roles at all levels, as the amended party statute would ensure greater inclusion of young members.
