KATHMANDU: Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhushan Timilsina has resigned after being overlooked for promotion to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Nepal Police.
Timilsina has accused the Nepal Police leadership of unfairly denying him a promotion, despite being ranked first when he was appointed to the position of Inspector 23 years ago. He further claimed that officers, who were ranked below him for promotion from Inspector to DSP and DSP to SP, have been recommended for promotion to SSP. Timilsina said he chose to step down after senior police officers showed indifference toward his concern.
On Friday, the Promotion Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs picked 18 SPs for promotion to SSP.
However, DIG Kuber Kathayat, the spokesperson for the Nepal Police, stated that he has no information regarding Timilsina’s resignation. “He may have submitted his resignation to the concerned department,” Kathayat added
