LUMBINI: The Himalayas have become visible even from the lowlands of Tarai region after the weather started improving following continuous rain.

Snow-capped peaks of the Annapurna ranges were visible from different parts of Rupandehi. As the sky cleared up, the mountains were visible for about an hour from areas like Bhairahawa, Mayadevi, and Lumbini.

“After it rains, the weather clears, and then the mountains become visible from the Lumbini area,” Prahlad Yadav, a local from Lumbini, said. He mentioned that on Sunday, following continuous rainfall, the mountains were visible for quite some time.

Journalist Ramesh Gaire shared pictures of the mountain view on social media, commenting, “While the country is crying due to disasters, the mountains are smiling from Lumbini.”

The sight of ripening rice fields in the Terai plains and flowers blooming along the roadsides has been captivating. Tourists visiting Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, could be seen enjoying the clear weather.
