Six recommended for vacant Supreme Court Justice positions

KATHMANDU: The Judicial Council has recommended six candidates for appointment to Supreme Court Justice.

A meeting of the council held on Tuesday recommended Saranga Subedi, Mahesh Sharma Poudel, Tek Prasad Dhungana, Abdul Ajij Musalman, Sunil Pokharel and Bal Krishna Dhakal for the vacant positions.

Among the recommended candidates, Saranga Subedi, Mahesh Sharma Poudel, Tek Prasad Dhungana, and Abdul Ajij Musalman are currently serving as High Court Judge. Subedi is deputed at Janakpur High Court, while Poudel and Dhungana serve at Patan High Court, and Musalman at the Hetadua bench of Patan High Court. Senior Advocates Dhakal and Pokharel have been appointed from the quota of legal practitioners.

The Council will now forward the names to the Parliamentary Hearing Committee for a public hearing on their appointments. The candidates will be appointed as Justices after their names are endorsed by the committee.
