Six dead as jeep falls off cliff in Udayapur

ITAHARI: Six persons lost their lives when a passenger jeep met with an accident in Udayapur district of Koshi Province on Thursday.

According to the District Police Office, Bhojpur, the jeep, traveling from Dharan to Bhojpur, veered off a cliff at Mainaimini, near the border of Bhojpur and Udayapur districts, on the Dharan-Bhojpur Road of Udayapur at around 10:30 am. “All six individuals died on the spot. Seven injured passengers are currently receiving treatment at various hospitals,” DSP Sudip Raj Pathak, chief of District Police Office, Bhojpur, told Himal Press.

Two of the decreased are women and three are men, while one is a child. The identity of the deceased has not been ascertained yet, according to Pathak.

The ill-fated jeep was carrying 14 passengers.
