POKHARA: With Gen-Z protests subsiding, daily life in Pokhara is gradually returning to normalcy. Since Friday morning, the movement of motor vehicles has increased and markets are seeing increased activity.
Chief District Officer of Kaski, Rudradevi Sharma, said prohibitory orders have been eased gradually for morning hours. “We will assess the situation by afternoon and then decide whether to tighten or relax the prohibitory orders further,” she said.
According to Sharma, restrictions have been loosened in the morning and evening to allow the movement of people for their essential work. “Nighttime curfew, however, will be in place within Pokhara Metropolitan City for a few more days,” she added.
The Gen Z protest on Monday escalated with protesters vandalising and setting several public and private establishments on fire on Monday and Tuesday. Government buildings, including the Gandaki Provincial Assembly, provincial ministries, Kaski District Court, District Administration Office, Kaski, Pokhara Metropolitan Office, ward offices, and dozens of other government and private properties, suffered extensive damage during the protest
