KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee has reached a unanimous decision to endorse Acting Supreme Court Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha as the next Chief Justice.
The committee had received three complaints against Shrestha. The committee members conducted a thorough review of these concerns and subsequently approved Shrestha’s nomination for the position of Chief Justice.
Earlier, Shrestha outlined his comprehensive work plan before the hearing committee. In his work plan, Shrestha has expressed commitment to take needful initiatives for the establishment of family court.
The Constitutional Council nominated Shrestha for the role of Chief Justice on August 4.
He will now be appointed to the post by President Ram Chandra Poudel.
