KATHMANDU: Jyotsna Shrestha, Hemraj Dhakal, and Surkrishna Baidya have been elected vice presidents in the new executive committee of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI).
Shrestha has been elected as the vice president (associate). She contested the election as the candidate from Ram Chandra Sanghai’s panel. Shrestha defeated Bharat Acharya who was the common candidate of the panels led by Anjan Shrestha and Umesh Lal Shrestha. Shrestha secured 846 votes, while Acharya received 781 votes.
Earlier, Surkrishna Baidya, also from Sanghai’s panel, was elected vice president (district/town). Baidya, who received 43 votes, and defeated Ajay Raj Sumargi from Anjan Shreshta’s panel and Dinesh Shrestha from Umesh Lal Shrestha’s panel. Sumargi received 37 votes, while Shrestha received 34 votes.
Likewise, Hemraj Dhakal of Umesh Lal Shrestha’s panel has been elected vice president (commodities). Dhakal, who is the brother of former FNCCI President Chandiraj Dhakal, received 61 votes. He defeated Manish Lal Pradhan and Sakunta Lal Hirachan. Pradhan received 52 votes, while Hirachan could muster only seven votes.
