KATHMANDU: Agriculture expert Shiva Bahadur Nepali Pradhan’s book ‘Nepal Speaks: Conscious Social Order’ has been released.
Former administrator and diplomat Surya Prasad Shrestha unveiled Pradhan’s book at an event in Lalitpur on Sunday.
Commenting on the book, Shrestha praised Pradhan’s powerful presentation of the statement “No Nepali should be hungry, unemployed, or illiterate”. “The book also outlines the foundations for feeding, employing and educating all Nepalis,” he added.
Shrestha also highlighted Pradhan’s unparalleled contribution to Nepal’s agricultural sector and suggested that the book could serve as a foundation for building a new Nepal.
Similarly, journalist Ramesh Lamsal said the book presents a concise picture of Nepal’s history, politics, economy and agriculture, and serves as a roadmap for Nepal’s practical development. “The book not only proposes how to develop agriculture but also how to develop Nepal as a whole,” he added.
Agriculture expert Krishna Kumar Pandey praised Shiva Bahadur Nepali’s significant contribution to agricultural development. “A real agricultural revolution has been made possible in Nepal by the contributions of experts like him,” Pandey said.
Similarly, Commentator Maheshwar Acharya said that while Nepal needs more human resources like Pradhan, the practice of promoting party workers and sidelining experts has overshadowed people like Pradhan. “His experience of bringing 100,000 apple saplings from India to Jumla is still a case study for those working in development,” Acharya said. “He fostered collaboration between local farmers and the agriculture office to make radish cultivation sustainable in Kakani which is still an exemplary model.”
