KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr Shekhar Koirala met party President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Tuesday to discuss issues related to the distribution of active membership forms and recommendations made by the Central Disciplinary Committee.
Koirala, accompanied by Central Working Committee member Dr Minendra Rijal, visited Deuba at his residence to raise concerns over the dissemination of membership forms without serial numbers to the party’s district units by the Active Membership Distribution Committee. They asked Deuba to issue a directive to recall these forms.
According to a member of Shekhar’s personal secretariat, he told Deuba that the general convention process cannot move ahead until these forms are withdrawn.
The two also asked President Deuba to withdraw recommendations made by the Central Disciplinary Committee. They said it won’t be appropriate disciplinary action now for activities during the 2022 general elections.
NC has taken disciplinary action against several leaders who did not support the party’s official candidates in 2the 022 general election.
Deuba has given up an active role in the party after the Gen Z protest, during which he was manhandled and his house was torched, assigning the Acting President role to Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka.
