Shashank for postponing general convention after 2027 elections

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Shashank Koirala has said it would be appropriate to hold the party’s 15th general convention after the 2027 general elections.

Talking to journalists in Chitwan on Tuesday, Koirala said it won’t be appropriate to hold the general convention before the election. “If the general convention is held before the election, the bitter relations among leaders could impact election results,” Koirala said.

As per the NC statute, the party must hold its general convention by December 2025. The statute, however, allows the party president to postpone the general convention by a year citing unavoidable circumstances.

NC held its 14th general convention in Kathmandu on December 13-15 2021.
