KATHMANDU: Yubaraj Sharma of Nepali Congress (NC) and Narayan Dahal of CPN (Maoist Center) have filed their candidacies for the position of National Assembly chairperson.
Dahal is the brother of Prime Minister and Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal. He has the support of the four parties of the ruling coalition – Maoist Center, CPN-UML, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP).
Similarly, Sharma has the support of the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party.
The election for the National Assembly chairperson has been scheduled for Tuesday.
The ruling alliance has signed an agreement to support the Maoist Center candidate for the post of chairperson and CPN-UML for the post of vice-chairperson.
