KATHMANDU: Joint Secretary Sewa Lamsal has been promoted to Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A cabinet meeting held on Thursday decided to promote Lamsal to the vacant position of foreign secretary.
This marks a historic moment as Lamsal has become the first Nepali woman to assume the role of foreign secretary. She had been serving as the officiating foreign Secretary since Bharat Raj Poudyal retired last week.
As a joint secretary, Lamsal was performing the role of spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She also served as Nepal’s ambassador to Pakistan for four years.
