KATHMANDU: A passenger died and many others were injured when Beoing 777-300 ER aircraft of Singapore Airlines en route to Singapore from London encountered severe turbulence on Tuesday.
“Singapore Airlines flight #SQ321, operating from London (Heathrow) to Singapore on 20 May 2024, encountered severe turbulence en route. The aircraft diverted to Bangkok and landed at 1545hrs local time on 21 May 2024,” the airline wrote in a post on social media platform X (previously Twitter). “We can confirm that there are injuries and one fatality on board the Boeing 777-300ER. Singapore Airlines offers its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.”
The identity of the deceased and the injured has not been made public.
The aircraft made an emergency landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok.
