KATHMANDU: News of the abduction of seventh-grader Bhuvan Kunwar of Prithvi Secondary School in Madane Rural Municipality-6 in Gulmi on Tuesday afternoon sent shockwaves through the school and local community.
Seven classmates, who had walked home with Bhuvan, alerted locals that he was missing. The school quickly informed the Purkot Daha Police Station about the missing student. Police, teachers, local residents and journalists all participated in the search for the boy. They found Bhuvan hiding.
After questioning, police discovered that Bhuvan had fabricated the story to cover up unfinished homework.
“Questioning by the police, school and parents confirmed that the student had fabricated the story. No incident of intimidation or abduction has occurred. We urge everyone to help maintain a peaceful environment so that teaching and learning can continue uninterrupted,” Madan Bahadur Kunwar Chhetri, principal of the school, said in a statement.
