‘Seven of India train accident victims are from Sudurpashchim’

KATHMANDU: An association of Nepalis in India has claimed that seven of the 13 people who died in a train accident in Maharashtra state of India on Wednesday evening are from Sudurpashchim Province.

According to the Migrant Nepali Liaison Forum, India, the Nepali victims of the accident have been identified as Radheshyam Bhai, Nandaram BK of Achham, Kamala Bhandari of Kailali, Himu BK of Achham, Jayakala Bhatta of Achham, Maisara BK of Achham and Lachhiram Paswan.

The address of Radheshyam and Lachhiram has not been ascertained. But they too are from Sudurpashchim Province, the forum claimed.

According to Indian media reports, passengers of the Pushpak Express train, traveling from Lucknow to Mumbai, pulled the emergency brake and stopped the train after rumors spread that the train had caught fire. As passengers hurriedly disembarked, a Karnataka Express train was simultaneously approaching on a nearby track. The passengers were struck by the oncoming train, resulting in 13 fatalities.

The accident occurred at around 4:42 pm near the Pachora station in Jalgaon.
