KATHMANDU: A woman has died following a rhino attack in Ratnanagar-14, Chitwan.
The incident occurred around Tuesday noon when a rhinoceros attacked local residents of Ratnanagar.
Krishna Kumari Thapa, a 70-year-old resident of Ratnanagar-16, sustained critical injuries in the attack. According to District Police Office, Chitwan, she passed away while undergoing treatment at the Bharatpur-based district hospital.
Five others were injured in the rhino attack. The injured include Dambar Bahadur Thapa (78) from Ratnanagar-16, Mina Gurung (60) from Ratnanagar-14, Chetanath Chaulagain (72) from Ratnanagar-12, Sita Pokharel (39) and Pujan BK. Their conditions are reported to be stable.
Pokharel is receiving treatment at CMC Teaching Hospital, while the others are being treated at the district hospital in Bharatpur. The rhinoceros, which had wandered in from the Khairahani area of Chitwan, was chased back into the forest by locals.
