KATHMANDU: The campaigning period for the elections for the House of Representatives and seven province assemblies is ending from Thursday midnight.

Senior leaders of major political parties remained busy throughout the day attending mass meetings and reaching the doorsteps of voters in different parts of the country.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba addressed election meetings in Achham and Kanchanpur districts of Sudurpashchim Province. Addressing the meetings, Deuba said the existing coalition of democratic and left parties will continue after the election as well. “This coalition will continue for a long time,” Deuba said, addressing a mass meeting in Achham district headquarters Mangalsen.

Likewise, CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli addressed his party’s election meeting in Ittabhatta of Jhapa. He said the UML will vote actively for the victory of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) candidate. Stating that the coalition to spilt state resources among themselves, he urged party cadres to reject coalition candidates and vote for his party.

Similarly, CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal addressed an election meeting in Kathmandu said his party would work for economic development. “Development and prosperity are our agendas,” he added.

Addressing a meeting in Kathmandu-2, CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal solicited votes for his party.
