Seized wildlife hides, body parts being sent to Chitwan

TAPLEJUNG: The Division Forest Office, Taplejung, is preparing to send hides and body parts of wild animals seized from traffickers to Chitwan.

Badri Prasad Sah, the chief of the Division Forest Office, said that preparations were underway to transport 25.5 kg of animal hides and body parts to Chitwan. The seized items include parts and hides of bears, pangolins, blue sheep, barking deer, and yaks, among others.

The National Park and Wildlife Conservation Act strictly prohibits the sale, distribution, and transportation of wildlife parts.

According to Sah, division forest offices are required to maintain records of all seized hides and parts before forwarding them to the relevant authorities for proper management. Hides and parts seized from areas under the jurisdiction of division forest offices are sent to the Armed Forest Guard Training Center in Tikauli, while those seized from areas under the jurisdiction of national parks and wildlife conservation areas are sent to various national parks such as Chitwan National Park, Langtang National Park, and Bardiya National Park.
