Secretary at Office of the Vice President arrested in fraud case

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested Tek Narayan Pandey, secretary at the Office of the Vice President, on the charge of duping people in the pretext of sending them to the US in the guise of Bhutanese refugees.

Pandey reportedly facilitated a racquet that had collected tens of millions of rupees from hundreds of people in the pretext of sending them to the US as Bhutanese refugees when he was serving at the home ministry four years ago. They allegedly collected up to Rs 5 million each.

Earlier, police had arrested Indrajit Rai, the security adviser to former home minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’.

Police have already arrested Keshav Dular, Sanu Bhattarai, Tanka Kumar Gurung, Sagar Rai, and Sandesh Sharma for an investigation into the case.
