KATHMANDU: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Bidya Bhattarai has said that three sub-committees will be formed to expedite the passage of the School Education Bill, 2023.
Speaking at an ‘Education Debate’ organized by the Education Journalists’ Group in Kathmandu on Thursday, Minister Bhattarai assured that the School Education Act would be enacted soon.
“The School Education Bill is coming because I have prepared for it. The bill is currently under the Education, Health and Technology Committee of the lower house. The committee chair expressed commitment to start deliberations. He has told me that three sub-committees will be formed for discussion on the Bill,” Minister Bhattarai said. “Before Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals, we held a discussion on the Bill with the members of parliament for eight days. Some amendments have been proposed.”
According to Minister Bhattarai, one subcommittee will discuss the proposed amendments, another will deliberate on suggestions from stakeholders, and the third will conduct all types of dialogues.
“The committee chair, Ammar Bahadur Thapa, has informed me that work will progress through these three subcommittees. We will proceed by considering the perspectives of both the committee and the ministry,” Minister Bhattarai said.
