KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has sought a written response from Gopal Krishna Ghimire, the president of the Nepal Bar Association (NBA), in a contempt of court case.
A joint bench of Justices Kumar Regmi and Dr Kumar Chudal on Thursday ordered Ghimire to submit his response either in person or through a representative within seven days.
Supreme Court Deputy Registrar Govinda Prasad Ghimire filed the contempt case, alleging that NBA President Ghimire, who is also a senior advocate, had committed contempt of court through his statements.
“What are the circumstances of this case? If there are any grounds for not issuing the order as per the petitioner’s demand, submit a written response with supporting evidence within seven days of receiving this notice, either personally or through a legal representative, excluding travel time,” the apex court order states.
