KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has refused to issue an interim order in the writ petition filed by former Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Hitendra Dev Shakya, against the government’s decision to sack him.
A single bench of Justice Nrip Dhwaj Niraula issued the order on Tuesday.
A Cabinet meeting held on September 21 decided to remove Shakya and appoint Manoj Silwal to the position. Shakya was transferred to the Water and Energy Commission Secretariat by creating a new post there.
The decision was taken on the recommendation of Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Kul Man Ghising, whom Shakya had earlier replaced at the NEA.
Shakya had challenged the Cabinet decision at the Supreme Court on Monday, seeking the apex court’s order to reinstate him.
