KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has annulled its interim that prevented the implementation of the 30-year service limit in Nepal Police.
A single bench of Justice Hari Prasad Phuyal had issued an interim order on August 22 which had prevented the enforcement of the 30-year service limit in the police force. However, the Ministry of Home Affairs, through the Office of the Attorney General, had filed a petition, seeking annulment of the interim order, stating that such an order would create problems in the police organization.
A division bench of Justices Binod Sharma and Saranga Subedi annulled the interim order as demanded by the home ministry on Friday.
Justice Phuyal had issued the interim order hearing a writ petition filed by police officers including SSP Jivan Kumar Shrestha. In the petition, they had argued that they were being forced to retire due to the 30-year service limit even though they were still fit and capable of working.
