KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has ordered the police to present Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Senior Vice Chairperson Rabindra Mishra before the court and provide a justification for his arrest.

A single bench of Justice Sunil Kumar Pokharel issued the order on Wednesday, hearing a habeas corpus petition filed by Mishra’s wife, Sarika Karki.

Karki has argued in her petition that her husband is being held unlawfully.

Mishra has been in custody for the past 48 days following his arrest on charges of inciting violence during the Tinkune incident on March 28. His remand has already been extended eight times.

Police are investigating him on allegations related to offenses against the state and organized crime. Meanwhile, RPP General Secretary Dhawal Shamser Rana, who was arrested alongside Mishra, is being investigated from outside custody due to health reasons.
