KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has issued an order to provide affiliation to B&C Medical College, Birtamode, owned by controversial entrepreneur Durga Prasai.
A division bench of Justice Dr Kumar Chudal and Saranga Subedi issued the order on Monday. “The apex court has ordered the defendants to grant affiliation to the medical college if it had fulfilled the required process,” the Supreme Court Spokesperson Bed Prasad Upreti said. “More details will be known after the full text of the verdict is made available.”
Prasai had moved the apex court three years ago, arguing that B&C Medical College had been unlawfully denied affiliation by the concerned agencies. In his petition, Prasai argued that the college was denied affiliation after readying all the infrastructure and receiving the letter of intent.
Talking to Himal Press after the Supreme Court issued the order, Prasai said: “It was expected as I had already completed all prescribed processes.”
Prasai has been operating B&C Medical College Teaching Hospital & Research Center since 2011.
