KATHMANDU: Legspinner Sandeep Lamichhane will be in Nepal’s squad for the final two group-stage matches of the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Issuing a statement on Monday morning, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) confirmed that Lamichhane’s name is included in the 15-member list submitted to the International Cricket Council (ICC), with Pratish GC listed as a traveling reserve.
“Sandeep has been part of Nepal’s official squad since May 16. Although he was denied a visa to travel to the US, he will be available for Nepal’s group stage matches against Bangladesh and South Africa,” the statement added.
The Nepali squad will travel to St. Vincent to face South Africa and Bangladesh in Kingstown after playing against Sri Lanka in Florida on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Sandeep has already reached Kingstown. “Namaste West Indies! I am now joining the national team for the last two matches in the West Indies and looking forward to fulfilling my dreams and the dreams of all cricket lovers,” Lamichhane wrote on his social media page after reaching Kingstown.
