Sandeep Lamichhane acquitted of rape charge

KATHMANDU: The Patan High Court has acquitted former cricketer Sandip Lamichhane in a rape case.

A division bench of High Court Judges Sudarshan Dev Bhatta and Anju Upreti Dhakal overturned Kathmandu District Court’s verdict, citing a lack of sufficient grounds to convict him.

The district court found Lamichhane guilty of rape and sentenced him to eight years of imprisonment four months ago. However, he was allowed to appeal the district court’s verdict remaining out of jail.

Lamichhane had challenged the district court’s verdict at the apex court.
