ITAHARI: Harka Sampang, the Mayor of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City, has removed the portraits of President Ram Chandra Poudel and President Pushpa Kamal Dahal from his chamber. On Thursday, Sampang replaced the portraits with a portrait of Yalambar, the first Kiranti king.
Sampang’s personal secretary, Sudarshan Limbu, confirmed that Yalambar’s portrait has been put up in Mayor Sampang’s chamber.
On Wednesday, Sampang wrote a post on his Facebook page that he would replace the portraits of the President and Prime Minister with that of Kiranti king Yalambar. “I will reinstate their portraits in my chamber once the federal government starts giving importance to local government,” he added.
