KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli formally announced that Nepal would host the Sagarmatha Sambaad in Kathmandu on May 16-18.
Oli made the announcement during a special ceremony organized at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on the occasion of the International Year of Glaciers, 2025.
The government is hosting this global dialogue for the first time, focusing on climate change, the Himalayas, and the future of humanity. The government plans to hold the Sagarmatha Sambaad every two years.
Deputy Prime Ministers, ministers, secretaries, high-ranking officials, and heads and representatives of diplomatic missions in Nepal were present on the occasion.
The government had earlier announced that it would hold the Sagarmatha Sambaad on April 2-4, 2020. However, it was canceled due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
