KATHMANDU: Nepal secured a consolation win in the SAFF Championship 2023 by defeating Pakistan 1-0 in its final match of the championship in Bangalore on Tuesday.
Although Nepal dominated the game, it had to wait until the 79th minute to score. Ashish Chaudhary beautifully controlled Laken Limbu’s cross just outside Pakistan’s box and slammed the shot into the back of the net.
In the 92nd minute, Arik Bista squandered an opportunity to double Nepal’s score. His powerful shot from just outside the box sailed over the post.
Manish Dangi had the chance to open the scoring for Nepal but failed to beat the Pakistani keeper in the 61st minute.
Nepal had lost its first two matches of the league round, suffering a 1-3 defeat against Kuwait and a 0-2 defeat against India.
