KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has directed authorities to investigate and take necessary action regarding the protection of physical assets of Nepal Children’s Organization (Bal Mandir) across the country.
During a discussion with the organization’s officials at his office on Sunday, Oli instructed officials of the organizations to secure all land, structures, and properties under the organization’s name nationwide and bring under control any encroachments.
“If others have encroached on Bal Mandir’s land or are occupying it without proper lease agreements, swift and stringent action should be taken to reclaim and utilize those properties,” he said. “Even if the organization has been using the land for a long time without ownership documents, efforts should be made to officially transfer it under the organization’s name.”
Oli also emphasized the need to provide balanced nutrition, proper clothing and care for the children under the organization’s care, as well as ensuring they receive quality education.
On the occasion, Bidya Neupane, chairperson of the Nepal Children’s Organization, requested the government to approve the revised constitution that clearly defines the organization’s identity, arrange for the necessary budget, protect the organization’s land, and facilitate the process for children who face difficulties in obtaining birth certificates and citizenship.
According to Neupane, around 300 children are under the organization’s care at present.
