Ruling UML takes to streets; announces nationwide protest against ‘regressive’ activities

KATHMANDU: The ruling CPN-UML has announced a nationwide public awareness campaign to garner support for the federal democratic republic and to alert the public against regressive activities currently taking place in the country.

The party on Thursday announced that it would organize public awareness programs simultaneously in all wards across the nation on Chaitra 11 (March 24).

Organizing a virtual meeting on Thursday, UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel instructed all provincial and district committee chairpersons to effectively implement the programs decided by the party.

UML plans to conduct public mobilization and awareness campaigns against regressive activities in all provinces and districts from Chaitra 11 to Chaitra 30 (March 24 to April 12). As part of the program, motorcycle rallies will be organized in Dhangadhi, Surkhet, Butwal, Pokhara, Birgunj and Damak on March 31.

Additionally, the party will hold district-level awakening assemblies in all districts on March 31. From April 6 to April 12, it will organize special demonstrations and public gatherings in Dhangadhi, Surkhet, Butwal, Pokhara, Birgunj, and Damak, covering all provinces except Bagmati.

The UML has said that it would mobilize central committee members to address provincial-level special gatherings.
