Ruling coalition’s Dhungana, Chaudhary elected from Madhesh

JANAKPURDHAM: The ruling coalition has won both seats in the National Assembly in Madhesh Province.

In the election held on Thursday, Ananda Prasad Dhungana of Nepali Congress and Puja Chaudhary of Janata Samajbadi Party were elected to the upper house.

Dhungana defeated Bijay Jha of CPN-UML and Ram Shankar Mahaseth of Janamat Party, while Chaudhary defeated UML’s Usha Devi Tharuni. Out of 10,839 votes, Dhungana and Chaudhary received 7,730 and 7,923 votes, respectively.

Dhungana and Chaudhary were the common candidates of the four parties of the ruling coalition.
