KATHMANDU: CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel has dismissed rumors of the government’s collapse as baseless.
Speaking at a press meet in Banke on Tuesday, Pokharel said that the ruling coalition of Nepali Congress (NC) and UML will remain intact until the 2027 general election.
“There is no need to wish for the government’s collapse,” he said. “There is no discord between the NC and UML at present, so this coalition will last until the election.”
Pokharel also said that the lack of a single-party majority in the House of Representatives necessitates coalition politics. “With no party holding a majority, forming a coalition is a necessity,” he stated. “In such times, the government operates based on collective policies and consensus, which is exactly what’s happening now.”
He also claimed that the government is moving forward with a unified agenda and functioning in line with shared objectives.
