KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition partners have said that they would make the government and parliamentary activities more effective, balanced and organized.
In a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Monday evening, top leaders of the ruling coalition discussed on ways to present a unified approach on the government’s overall work, according to Nepali Congress Chief Whip Shyam Kumar Ghimire.
He also said that the meeting agreed to formulate a common minimum program for the government based on the seven-point agreement reached between the Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML.
Discussions were also held on initiating talks to amend the constitution in a way that would increase national acceptance based on necessity.
CPN-UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula, who was present in the meeting, said that the coalition partners reviewed the misleading and undesirable presentation of the constitution amendment issue by the opposition CPN (Maoist Center). “The meeting also focused on expediting government work to turn the public’s growing frustration into hope,” he said. “Despite having differing views among the ruling parties on certain issues, the parties agreed to adopt a unified stance on government and parliamentary matters.”
Prime Minister and UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Chairperson Ashok Kumar Rai, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) Chairperson Mahantha Thakur, Nagarik Unmukti Party Chairperson Ranjita Shrestha and Janamat Party’s Abdul Khan, among others, participated in the meeting.
