KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Dhaka Kumar Shrestha has lost his position in the House of Representatives.
Speaker Devraj Ghimire on Tuesday announced that Shrestha’s position has been revoked as per the Political Parties Act, 2017, after RSP informed the Federal Parliament Secretariat about its decision to expel Shrestha from the party.
RSP expelled Shrestha from the party membership on April 13 after an audio clip of his conversation with tainted businessman Durga Prasai was leaked. In the leaked audio clip, Shrestha can be heard soliciting Rs 25 million from Prasain to help him become health minister.
Shrestha was elected to the House of Representatives under the proportionate representation (PR) system.
Meanwhile, RSP has already decided to nominate Bindabasini Kanasakar to replace Shrestha.
