KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has suspended its lawmaker Dhaka Kumar Shrestha for investigation following the release of an audio recording in which he allegedly demanded Rs 20 million from medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai.
Party Joint General Secretary Kabindra Bulrakoti announced that the party has suspended Shrestha after questions were raised against him. Bulrakoti stated that Shrestha has been given seven days to submit his clarification to the party. During this period, Shrestha will not be allowed to participate in any of the party’s or parliamentary activities, he added.
Shrestha was elected to the House of Representatives through the proportional representation system.
In the audio clip, Shrestha can be heard demanding the money to appoint Prasai to the post of minister.
