RSP spreading misinformation in cooperative saving misuse case: Pokharel

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel has criticized Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane for spreading misinformation about receiving a clean chit in the cooperative savings misuse case.

Speaking at a press meet in Dhangadhi on Wednesday, Pokharel said everyone, including political leaders, should cooperate with investigations if charges are made. “There has been a declaration of innocence and talk of receiving a clean chit,” Pokharel said. “A clean chit is obtained after going through legal procedures and being acquitted by the court. That has not happened in this case.”

He also said the RSP and its leadership should cooperate with the ongoing investigation into the misuse of cooperative savings. “The RSP and its president must unconditionally cooperate with the investigation,” he said. “I hope the RSP and its leaders and workers understand the gravity of the accusations.”

Pokharel also accused the RSP of spreading confusion by misinterpreting the parliamentary special investigation committee’s call for legal action as a clean chit. “Activities are underway to stop the investigation itself by mocking the rule of law,” he added.
