KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has said that a parliamentary inquiry committee will not be formed now.

Talking to the media after the House session was adjourned on Thursday evening, RSP lawmaker Manish Jha said they tried very hard to forge consensus but failed. “The parliamentary inquiry panel cannot be formed now. We have been in politics for only 23 months. We haven’t even completed 100 days in the government so far,” Jha said.

He added: “Those who have been in politics for the past 34 years, can they say they are ready for an investigation into their president? We are ready to quit politics if any wrongdoing is found on our part. Does the Nepali Congress (NC) have that courage? Can they say probe my president, his wife and his son?”

NC lawmakers obstructed House proceedings on Thursday also. Although Speaker Devraj Ghimire had given time to RSP President and Deputy Prime Minister and Home Affairs, Rabi Lamichhane, NC prevented him from going to the rostrum.
