RSP, RPP lawmakers boycott House session

KATHMANDU: Lawmakers from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) boycotted the meeting of the House of Representatives on Friday.

As soon as the meeting began, lawmakers from both parties stood up in protest. Speaker Devraj Ghimire urged them to take their seats, but when they refused, the Speaker started scheduled discussion on ministry-wise budget allocations. RPS and RPP lawmakers then walked out of the chamber.

Due to the boycott, Speaker Ghimire announced the removal of the direct question-and-answer session with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli from Friday’s agenda.

RSP and RPP lawmakers have been surrounding the well of the Parliament for the past few days, demanding the formation of a high-level committee to investigate the involvement of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak in the visit visa controversy.
