KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has said that the party will not leave the coalition government led by CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal immediately.
RSP held a joint meeting of the party’s central committee meeting and the parliamentary party on Thursday. After Prime Minister Dahal refused to give the home ministry to RSP, the party was expected to take a decision to leave the government on Thursday. However, the party didn’t take any decision about leaving the government after coalition leaders assured the party that the matter will be discussed in the high-level political mechanism of the coalition parties.
“Two leaders of the coalition – PM Dahal and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli – sent a message to the party while the meeting was underway. Both the leaders asked the party to give them two days,” party spokesperson Mukul Dhakal said. “We will nominate our leader once PM Dahal send us the name to lead the home ministry.”
Responding to a question on whether the party will quit the government if it doesn’t get home ministry, Dhakal said: “The party can take any decision if we are denied the home ministry.”
The RSP meeting was seen with significance after RSP President took to social media earlier on Thursday stating that his silence will end today.
